It's been a long time since Wapello! Did you hear Ely closed it? I remember the girl scout t-shirts at camp! (I also remember you never taking your hat off, even when sleeping, for fear you'd forget it and the program director would get after you.)

Anyway, don't forget the Gold award, which is supposed to be somewhat equivalent to the Eagle Scout, or so I've been told.

I was a Girl Scout. Back then, cookies were sold (by us and not our parents) to fund camping trips where we learned how to start fires with dry sticks. It was basically the same thing as being a Boy Scout, except that you had to wear a stupid skirt.

I agree about the "Irish Car Bombs". I find a lot of things funny, but terrorism in Ireland isn't one of them. I thought it was especially tacky given that the old resentments were starting to flare up again during the same week that people were advertising this drink everywhere.

That limiting chip on the Cavi has saved me from some pretty outlandish speeding tickets. :)

I've only owned Cavaliers, and (unfortunately) not one was a Z24. They're still good cars, though. They'll run forever if you have an honest mechanic; the only problem is the breaks, which are too small for the size of the car and die a quick, painful death after a couple of months of city driving.

You should keep the Beetle. I've always had a fondness for 'em, and VWs are beasts. If I had the cash and mechanical inclination, I'd own one. If you do sell it - and, by the way, I think you'll regret it if you do - make sure it goes to a worthy home.

Dude. I was sitting in the MWR tent at Kirkuk Reg. Air Base (with the Army, but living with the AF was AWESOME) watching the same story on CNN. Soldiers don't really have a pact like that; it's an unspoken truth that if something happens to your battle buddy, make sure his mom doesn't have any reason to be more upset than she is. A few weeks ago in Pittsburgh, I saw a Ford Excursion with a bumper sticker that said, "Recycle". I spent the rest of the week trying to figure out if the driver was trying to be ironic. It's fine if you want to drive an SUV, but don't tell *me* what to do with my aluminum cans if you're driving something that only gets 10 MPG. Write a letter to your f-ing congressman if it's so important to you.

People shouldn't advertise their political beliefs with bumper stickers. Some of us happen to have road rage.

Part of my problem was that the bumper sticker was on a yuppiemobile. Hey, dumbass! I'm thinking that your education was probably not too bad & I see you're enjoying the benefits our military has to offer you. I bet this moron would be the first in line to yell if they ever scrambled the "P" signal for the GPS his car is cure to have.

I may have the term wrong, but basically the GPS satellites being used all belong to the military and at the flip of a switch your trip to Grandma's house will show you driving 2,031 miles to BFE. If you don't have the encyrption key (which no civilian GPS is even capable of using) tough shit.

My boyfriend and I were just talking about these sorts of bumper stickers the other day. Sometimes I wish I still had a beater car so I could just ram into the back of these people.

I'm a liberal in some ways, but I agree with you. It's ludicrous to believe that we shouldn't put money into our military. We're numero uno for a reason, and I'd like to stay that way. It's good to have the advanced weapons even if we're not using them.

And don't these people understand that a good majority of the money we give defense contractors gets funneled back into the civilian sector? Not only that, but we, as a whole, benefit from the technology.

I got the same result, although I'm not sure that my tendency to say "gonna" and "wanna" really makes me suitable for television and/or radio. I also speak very fast and often clip the 'g' off of words as a result of being from the east coast. Mine should have said, "You have a good voice for TV and radio...in Brooklyn."

I don't get the appeal of Eragon or Harry Potter. When I was a child, I read Lord of the Rings and played D&D, and now those things are considered "too advanced" for children and are thrown away in favor of lackluster recreations.

It doesn't help that I don't take much in the way of notes and I wait a while before posting.
