Kim Jong Il's Death

I generally consider it bad form to speak ill of the dead, sometimes to speak of the dead at all, but rarely does someone manage to rise to the levels of asshattery and douchebaggery that is Kim Jong Il.

Of course there is going to be a lot of regional uncertainty now that he is dead, but there is also a glimmer of hope for North Korea now that this one mentally unstable dictator is dead.  Actually, there is probably little actual hope in North Korea, but hope for North Korea held by the rest of the world.

I think the average American is blissfully unaware of just how bad it is in North Korea or just how much effort the US has put into combating the threat North Korea holds.  These guys have been working on nukes and chemical weapons for years, while building up their military at the detriment of their common citizens.  Kim Jong Il rolled like he was a billionaire rap artist while most of his subjects starved.  The UN has been attempting to import humanitarian shipments of food and medicine with mixed results for decades.

Kim Jong Il was an interesting kook.  Here is a site listing just a few of his "interesting"   idiosyncrasies.
I say good riddance Kim Jong Il.  If you believe in hell, I'm sure he's in good recent company with Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden.
